Sona heads to the South

Sonakshi Sinha seems to be riding high on the hattrick successes of Rowdy Rathore, Son of Sardaar and Dabangg 2. Turns out, now the actress is not just a sought-after name in Bollywood, the film industry down South seems to want her too.

Word has it that Sona has been paid a whopping `5 crore for a Telugu film opposite superstar Mahesh Babu. “Be it Asin or Tamannah, we have always seen southern actresses head to Bollywood. But this is the other way round. This film will be Sona’s first in the south and going by her current success quotient, expectations are high,” says a source.
Sonakshi’s back-to-back successes in Bollywood has upped her remuneration in the industry. She is being seen in the league of superstars Katrina Kaif and Priyanka Chopra. “Sonakshi deserves the amount she is quoting.

She is not the highest paid actress as yet but she has the clout and the commercial viability that justifies her pay cheque,” says a trade analyst on condition of anonymity.
The shooting for her untitled film with Mahesh Babu is set to begin in May. The year seems to have begun on a high note for Sona and at this rate, she is sure to end it with a bang. Quite the Dabangg spirit, we say.
